Évora, 4th of May 2022 — Meight, a Portuguese startup that created an advanced IT platform for land transport, announces today a strategic partnership with Newoxygen, the company that owns the well-known SAP transport management software, bTransport.
The logistics sector, and in particular the land transport of goods, moves 16 million ton-km of goods per year, a figure that will triple in the next 30 years for the 100 million heavy goods vehicles. According to the Gartner report, this is one of the lagging sectors on the technology adoption curve, requiring substantial investment to become more resilient, agile, and efficient. For example, freight transport represents 2% of the car fleet but generates 22% of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.
The artificial intelligence platform created by Meight — the Meight Driver App — allows you to predict, monitor, and manage all freight transport operations that are carried out on the ground, namely the management of fuel consumption. In this way, Meight has a patented tool, dedicated to helping drivers work. Thanks to an infrastructure that proactively manages the process of driving heavy cargo vehicles, it manages to increase their efficiency and safety. It also supports a number of additional tasks that drivers have to perform to ensure a good freight service.
The bTransport vertical, in addition to all the basic management tools integrated into SAP Business One, has as main features the management and planning of services, monitoring of work orders, integration with various GPS systems, automatic invoicing, workshop and maintenance management, E-CMR Digital, among other benefits that bTtransport guarantees to its customers.
“This partnership with Might allowed to bring to bTransport the opportunity to add new features of added value and differentiating in the day-to-day of transport companies, making bTransport unique in the market.”, says Paulo Sábio, CEO of Newoxygen.
The partnership with Newoxygen, a leading SAP partner, connects the existing Transport Management services — namely resource management, and traffic management — allowing the bidirectional exchange and data processing, in order to transmit to drivers through a smartphone, in real-time, a complete monitoring of the services that are being carried out.
According to Paulo Alves, Alves Barroco director, national freight transport company, “as customers of the bTransport platform, the possibility of having the Meight service integrated with our platform has made the work of managing drivers much easier. Now the service planning is sent in real-time to the drivers, we can have a more profitable operation and with full control of delivery times, in real-time.”
